Rising Scholars Network

The Rising Scholars Network is a network of California Community Colleges committed to serving students who are currently incarcerated, formerly incarcerated, or otherwise impacted by the justice system. Through degree-granting programs in correctional facilities and comprehensive on-campus support, the network creates pathways for students to access, persist in, and complete their higher education goals.

Rising Scholars programs offer:

• Educational Support – Academic counseling, tutoring, and financial aid guidance

• Campus & Community Connections – Peer mentorship and access to student organizations

• Career & Transfer Pathways – Assistance in transferring to four-year universities or entering the workforce

• Basic Needs Assistance – Support for housing, food security, and mental health services

The Rising Scholars Network includes 93 California Community Colleges, with 84 colleges offering on-campus support for students who are formerly incarcerated, justice-impacted, or system-impacted.  These efforts also reach into 120 correctional facilities across the State.
