Equitable Placement

Get on track to transfer

Save time and money by enrolling directly in transfer-level English and math courses—no assessment tests required.

You are eligible to take the math and English courses needed to complete your degree or transfer to a four-year university faster, without spending time on classes that don’t count toward your goals. Plus, academic support services like tutoring and counseling are available to help you succeed every step of the way.

Get a Strong Start

Important new statewide reforms are in place to provide every student with a strong start on their way to earning a degree, certificate, or transferring to a university.

This means colleges are now required to use high school coursework, grades, and GPAs – not standardized tests – to help determine the placement of students into English and math courses when entering community college.

Achieve Success with Equitable Placement

Our goal is to help students complete transfer-level English and math coursework within their first year and to support English as a Second Language (ESL) students in completing their degree and transfer requirements in English within three years.

To set you up for success, you are eligible by default to enroll in transfer-level English and math courses without the need for assessment tests. We provide resources to help you navigate your coursework and achieve your educational goals, including:

  • Academic counseling to guide you through course selection and degree planning.

  • Education planning services to map out the most efficient path to graduation or transfer.

  • Placement support to ensure you start in the right courses for your goals.

  • Academic support services, such as tutoring, counseling, and co-requisite courses, to help you succeed.

If your goal is not transferring to a four-year university but completing a certificate or associate degree program, we will help you fulfill your math and English requirements within one year (or within three years for ESL students), ensuring you stay on track to reach your goals.
